Would Yoga Ever Be Mandatory Schooling In North America?
Came across this widely reported story where the schools within Madhya Pradesh - a state within India - were urged to participate in a state-wide yoga program termed 'surya namasker' (saluting the sun).
Driven by the government as a way of increase awareness about the benefits of yoga - pranayama (breathing exercises) were stressed as part of the policy on yoga.
According to this story from Calcutta News, over 300,000 students participated in the yoga policy.
What do you think - could this ever happen in North America? Would any government or health agency think to push such a policy in the name of prevention, increasing quality of life and reducing health care costs?
Something to think about isn't it.
